Providing high-quality equipment on a vendor-independent basis is only one element of Asteral’s ISO 9001:2015-accredited managed service as we also design and build the environment in which equipment operates in order to optimise its functionality.
With in excess of 13 years of proven experience and success in installing and transitioning high-end medical equipment, Asteral is the name you can trust to ensure equipment is installed on time with minimal disruption to clinical services. Last year alone Asteral successfully installed 59 items of diagnostic imaging equipment across its customer sites including MR and CT scanners, cardiac cath labs, interventional suites and multi-purpose fluoroscopy rooms.
Asteral is distinctive in having a dedicated in-house design and implementation team who will work with your estates and clinical departments to plan and project-manage the installation, commissioning and training on all equipment, as well as associated build works. In consultation with all stakeholders our in-house team will develop room and departmental designs which will optimise the patient’s experience whilst safeguarding their privacy, dignity and safety. Room designs will be vendor-neutral ensuring future technology selection is not restricted to a particular vendor.
The Asteral team, including PRINCE2 practitioner-qualified Implementation Managers, will prepare a detailed implementation plan for the hospital’s management, before securing the best value for construction work through a rigorous tendering process, or handing the project over to a preferred build partner. As works take place within the managed service setting they will benefit from tax efficiencies, and there is a significant transfer of project risk such as completion on time.
After installation we will manage the necessary acceptance testing, clinical commissioning, and deliver initial and ongoing clinical user training using OEM Application Specialists. Asteral’s Service Centre will maintain accurate user training records for all equipment under management supporting CQC and NHSLA requirements and ISAS accreditation.
Outside of the managed service setting, Asteral provides an MHRA-compliant disposal service that delivers strong financial returns and removes the complexity and risk associated with the disposal of redundant medical equipment.
With £80m-worth of our own retained assets, we face the same disposal challenges as many healthcare providers. We understand the importance of generating commercial value whilst also managing risk. Our disposal experts work with a number of our NHS and private customers to manage the safe resale of their redundant medical equipment within full compliance of WEEE.
Through our established service we have developed the experience and contacts required to generate resale prices above the market average – ensuring you generate maximum return on your redundant equipment, without any retained liability.
These activities are supported by Asteral’s Board membership of the International Association of Medical Equipment Remarketers and Servicers (IAMERS).
